TIGERS
CONTINUE PARTICIPATION IN PINK ZONE
Lawrenceville,
VA – January 28, 2010 -- The Saint Paul’s College Lady
Tigers and Tigers will participate in the WBCA’s 2010
Pink Zone events for breast cancer awareness. The teams
will compete against the Lady Vikings and Vikings of
Elizabeth City State University in Elizabeth City, North
Carolina on February 15, 2010.
Game times are 5:30 PM and
7:30 PM.
The WBCA Pink Zone is an effort to
unify coaches of the Women’s Basketball Coaches
Association (WBCA) in raising breast cancer awareness
beyond the courts and campuses and into the communities.
Beginning in 2007 as “Think Pink,” the initiative has
reached over 912,000 fans, with 1600 teams and
organizations participating in 2009. Last year’s
campaign raised over $1.3 million.
The funds
raised from the SPC Athletics’ 2009 events were split
50/50 between the WBCA’s charity Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer
Fund (The V Foundation) and The American Cancer Society.
Although they will not host
a Pink Zone game this year, the department is accepting
donations through the month of February.
They will also continue to
offer information through their administrative office to
the campus and the community.
To donate to this year’s campaign, or to request
information regarding breast cancer, please call
