Tigers Fall In Elizabeth City

 

 

Elizabeth City, North Carolina – January 22, 2009 - The Saint Paul's College Tigers took on the Vikings of Elizabeth City State University at the R.L. Vaughn Center in Elizabeth City, North Carolina.  In another tough game against a top team the Tigers dropped one to the Vikings, 65-61. 

 

The Tigers began the game with high intensity.  Sparked by sophomore forward Maurice Reevy’s seven points, six rebound productions the Tigers outscored the Vikings 33 – 23 in the first half.

 

The second half began with made baskets by the Vikings which resulted in an Elizabeth City momentum swing.  The Vikings match the Tigers intensity inevitably tying the score at 44 – 44, with 12:58 left to play. 

 

The Tigers refuse to back down as they strike first and retake the lead with just over 11 minutes left in the game. With 8:10 left to play, Saint Paul’s maintains a 53 – 50 lead. Unable to grab the rebound on a missed Viking free throw, the Tigers lost, 65-61

 

The Tigers were led in scoring by Maurice Reevy’s double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds.  Anthony Wynn added 9 points and 10 rebounds in addition to Kedrick Williams with 10 points. 

 

The Tigers return to action on Saturday, January 24, when they host the Fayetteville State University Broncos.  Game time is slated for 4:00 pm at Taylor-Whitehead Gymnasium, Lawrenceville, VA.
