Tolson completes game high for tackles

Saint Paul's College strong safety Dominic Tolson completed a game high
of 9.5 tackles against Saint Augustine College on Saturday. Although
Tolson defensively led his team, his defense was not enough to pull a
win over the Falcons.

"It was a matter of missed assignments," said Tolson, "Saint Augustine
didn't beat us, we beat ourselves."

At the beginning of the game, Saint Paul's won the coin toss but decided
to defer the kick-off until the second half.

The Falcons came out quickly and scored their first touchdown. Saint Augustine's Newton Miller III sent a message by scoring an 83-yard kick-off return.

Jermaine Williams of SPC replied to the Falcon's touchdown with a 21-yard run into the Saint Augustine end zone to tie the score 7-7.

The Falcon's continued to hustle starting with a 41-yard kick return then continuing on with yet another touchdown.

Saint Augustine's College started the second quarter with a touchdown, giving the Tigers a tough battle to fight.

Both teams in the second quarter threw interceptions starting with Falcons quarterback, Joaquin Green, Tolson's interception. Three plays later, Tiger's possession, Steffen Miller-Colon's pass was intercepted by Falcon's Dedrick Early. Early then advanced 27 yards.

Running out of time, the Falcon's attempted a 21-yard field goal, which was good.

In the third quarter, both teams continued to fight to score a touchdown. It wasn't until the last minute of the third quarter where Falcon's Newton Miller III rushed for a 32-yard touchdown.

In the final quarter of the game, both teams battled it out to try and score a touchdown before the clock read zero. Unfortunately both teams went scoreless in the fourth quarter. The final score of the game, 31-7,
Saint Paul's added a win to the Saint Augustine's record.

The Saint Paul's Tigers will be back in action next Saturday, September 25, 2010 at Parkview High School at 1 P.M. in CIAA action versus the Blue Bears of Livingstone College.
