2005 CIAA Women's Bowling Championship

SHAW, SAINT PAUL’S
IN BOWLING WINNER'S BRACKET AFTER SECOND DAY OF CIAA CHAMPIONSHIPS
DURHAM, NC -
Six teams remain in the CIAA Bowling Championships after the second day of the
three-day tournament on Monday.
Shaw faces Saint Paul’s
in the winners bracket, while Bowie
State faces Fayetteville
State and Elizabeth City
State faces North
Carolina Central in the losers bracket Tuesday beginning at 9 a.m. at AMF
Durham Lanes.
Shaw defeated Fayetteville
State (3-1) and Bowie State
(3-0) to advance in the winner's bracket of the championship round, a best of
five double-elimination Baker match format. Saint Paul’s
beat Virginia State
(3-2) and Elizabeth
City State
(3-2) in the winner's bracket.
North Carolina Central faces Elizabeth City
State in a rematch after
losing to the Vikings (3-1) in the opening championship round. The Eagles beat Virginia State (3-0) to stay alive.
After beating North Carolina Central in the
opening round, Elizabeth City State
lost to Saint Paul’s.
Bowie State
topped Winston-Salem State (3-1) but lost to Shaw, putting the Bulldogs
against Fayetteville State, a loser against Shaw and a winner against Winston-Salem State (3-1).
Eight teams advanced to the championship round
after regular and Baker matches were completed Monday. Shaw is the top seed and
Elizabeth City State
is the No. 2 seed in the championship round.
Bowie State is the No. 3 seed, Virginia
State is the No. 4 seed and Saint Paul’s is the No. 5
seed. Winston-Salem State is seeded No. 6, North Carolina Central is
seeded No. 7 and Fayetteville
State is seeded No. 8.
Teams that failed to reach the championship round
include Livingstone, Johnson C. Smith, Saint
Augustine’s and Virginia Union. Winston-Salem
State and Virginia State
were eliminated from the championship round.
